Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our programs, guarantees, and how we help students succeed.

How does your SAT program work?

Our SAT program is designed to help students build confidence, accuracy, and test-taking speed through a structured combination of instruction, realistic practice, and personalized review.

Students practice on an online testing platform that closely resembles the actual College Board digital SAT format, helping them become comfortable with the test environment before exam day. Each session is 2 hours long.

We offer two program options: a 12-session package and a 24-session package, depending on the student’s starting level, target score, and preparation timeline.

The first session introduces students to our core strategies for both SAT Math and Reading & Writing. After that, students complete focused practice tests and targeted drills during each session.

Every practice test is followed by an immediate performance review, where we analyze mistakes, identify weak areas, and teach the most effective methods to overcome those challenges.

Our goal is not just to give students more practice, but to help them understand exactly how to improve —step by step—so they can raise their SAT score with a clear, measurable plan.

What if my child doesn't improve?

In rare cases, if your child doesn’t show improvement in their SAT scores or school grades, the student will be credited 12 additional 2-hour sessions at no extra cost, subject to certain conditions. Please contact us for more details.

How are tutors selected?

Our tutors are selected through a careful, multi-step process. We receive applications through open job postings on third-party platforms as well as through our own website. Qualified applicants are then interviewed not only for their subject knowledge, but also for their ability to communicate clearly with young students.

We place special emphasis on patience, teaching style, and the ability to explain concepts in more than one way. Shortlisted applicants are required to complete two supervised trial tutoring sessions. After these sessions, students provide feedback on the tutor’s clarity, approachability, and effectiveness.

Only applicants who demonstrate strong subject expertise, excellent communication skills, and high student feedback are finally hired as IQ Learning tutors.

Can we book private 1-on-1 sessions?

Yes, IQ Learning does offer 1-on-1 private tutoring sessions. In addition, elite cohort sessions of 2 to 4 students, and larger classroom sessions (5-10 students) are also offered, subject to availability.

How do the different session types compare?

IQ Learning offers both private and group tutoring options to meet different student needs and family preferences.

In a private session, the tutor works exclusively with one student, allowing for fully personalized instruction, immediate feedback, and focused attention throughout the session. This option is ideal for students who need intensive support, faster progress, or highly customized guidance.

In a group session, students benefit from a more affordable tutoring option while still receiving structured academic support. Since the tutor’s attention is shared among multiple students, the level of individual attention may be different from a private session, especially when students in the same group are working on different subjects or skill levels.

For this reason, IQ Learning offers group tutoring sessions at significantly discounted rates compared with private sessions, while continuing to maintain a supportive and productive learning environment.

Which session type is the best, private 1-on-1, elite cohorts or large group?

The choice of session type depends on the student's requirements. Here is a comparison:

Tier Format Best For Pricing Position
Private 1-on-1 Individual Students far behind, urgent grade rescue, special learning gaps, accelerated advancement, unique course content Highest price
Elite Cohort 2 – 4 students Most students preparing for AP, SAT, Algebra, Calculus, elementary or middle school subjects More Affordable
Large group 5 – 10 students SAT crash course, AP review, summer advancement courses, exam review Lower cost, high volume

Most students prefer the Elite Cohort sessions

Is there an Assessment test available for the students?

Yes, IQ Learning offers free Assessment tests for SAT, ACT, and specific subjects at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Each test is one hour long. Based on the performance in the tests, comprehensive reports detailing the student’s strengths and weaknesses are available for purchase at $50 per test.

Can we take a trial session?

Yes, students can book online a paid 1-hour trial session. They may also book the trial session by contacting IQ Learning at +1 (832) 387-6250. A part of the paid amount will be adjusted against booked hours

How do we book the sessions?

Different packages are available. Each package is for a certain number of hours. The more the number of hours in the package, the lower is the per-hour rate. Contact IQ Learning online or by phone for details.

Can we pause/resume sessions?

With certain exceptions like school breaks/vacations or medical emergencies, every student is expected to attend at least two tutoring hours per week. In case students want to pause or take a temporary break for different reasons, they must inform the management in writing to get approval. Once approved, they may resume after the pause period is over. Hours are counted as ā€œAttendedā€ if prior approval is not obtained for tutoring breaks.

Do booked hours expire?

No, the hours do not expire, subject to certain conditions. Contact us for more details.
